I can't say that I've agreed with every decision that Judge Judy has made, and I have seen her show a few times. However, she was spot on that time. Any guesses as to which political party that guy voted for?
Re: Why we're are going down the drain
While I shake my head at the video, there is something far worse about it. The young man has allowed the government to strip from him all sense of self-respect and moral value. They say that government cannot legislate morality but it can certainly legislate situations that destroys morality. When the politicians pay for single mothers, they produce them in droves and the rampant poverty and lack of self-worth that accompanies their plight. There have always been poor people in society but in the past, even the poor had a sense of self respect.
When I listen to the stories of Ted Cruz's father or Marco Rubio's father, I hear a much different approach to life than what this man has. Unfortunately, there are a not enough Judge Judys in the world counteract all of damage this is being done. There will never be a law that stops people from giving up their humanity for a government check.

The same party she votes for. She's no friend of the RKBA, by the way. In any case, I saw that episode when it first aired. I nearly killed my TV.Heartland Patriot wrote:I can't say that I've agreed with every decision that Judge Judy has made, and I have seen her show a few times. However, she was spot on that time. Yes, TAM, I do realize that she's pretty much an anti-. What is the scariest thing is that she can get THIS one thing right (talking to that guy in the video), but somehow doesn't see the connection to the rest of it...and who knows how many folks in her party are the same way. Ridiculous. The Annoyed Man wrote:The same party she votes for. She's no friend of the RKBA, by the way. In any case, I saw that episode when it first aired. Re: Why we're are going down the drain
The number of people who don't get it is now larger than the number that do, and it's only going to get worse. Today I read that Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia had decided to renege on his no new taxes pledge because, according to him, he cares more about American than he does about a pledge he made twenty years ago. I wrote the Senator and pointed out to him that raising taxes isn't going to resolve a thing, because the problem in Congress is spending, not income. So long as we continue to spend more than we take in, no amount of tax increases will solve the problem.
If those who represent us don't get this, then why should we expect every citizen to get it?
We live in an insane world, and it's about to get noticeably and painfully worse. Congress is going to raise taxes on all of us, which isn't going to resolve a thing, while they take over 17% of the American economy with no plan in place to hold prices down or control spending at all. Anyone with a modicum of understanding can realize that the results will be catastrophic for the country, yet those people represent less than half the population. The other half lives in lalaland and thinks the gravy train will just keep running.

If you are advocating that folks not pay their taxes, that doesn't work so well. Only elites like Timmy Geithner and Charles Rangel can "forget" to pay their taxes and yet not end up in serious trouble. Us regular folks would get our assets seized or be hauled off to jail.zaroffhunts wrote:As long as you pay tribute, the barbarians will keep taking it.

I'm making an observation which I think is backed by thousands of years of history. How people choose to act, or not act, is up to them... and so are the consequences of their actions, or inactions. It's not my problem either way.Heartland Patriot wrote:If you are advocating that folks not pay their taxes, that doesn't work so well. Just 'cause I'm curious..... how is it not your problem in some way or another, unless you don't live in the U.S..........or unless you either don't earn enough to pay taxes, or you don't declare your income?zaroffhunts wrote:I'm making an observation which I think is backed by thousands of years of history. Re: Why were are going down the drain
"Tip of the iceberg"....We have NO idea how many billions of our tax dollars are being thrown away on programs ostensibly designed up to help people, that are set up as if they were INTENDED to facilitate fraudulent abuse. One example, which I was made aware of about 5 years ago as a result of my business, is an federally funded educational grant program for single mothers going to college, which pays them $5,000 per semester. Sounds like a good idea...help them get enough education to get a decent job to provide for themselves...and I know several women that are doing just that. However, it's the way the program is administered that causes a problem...the ONLY requirement to qualify for this money is to be a single mother enrolled in a college course. So far so good...but, the money is not paid to the institution and paid out over the course of the semester...it's deposited directly to the "student's" checking account once they have showed up for the first two weeks of class. That 2 weeks of attendance is the ONLY requirement to receive $5,000 which never has to be paid back...it's a grant, not a loan. There is no limit on the number of times they can receive this free money, and no requirement that they ever finish a full semester or pass a course. There are a HUGE number that simply enroll for one or two classes, show up for 2 weeks, then drop the classes and live off the money for the next 4 months. They come in and pay their rent and car payments, for 4 months at a time up front as soon as the money hits their bank account, and don't return to school until it's time to enroll for the next semester. The institution's financial aid staff helps them fill out their applications each semester and KNOWS exactly what they are doing, but don't care because they are getting the full tuition money paid to them. Neither the so called "students", or the institution, are doing anything illegal, because that is the way the program was DESIGNED. There is no way that the government bureaucrats that set this up did not foresee the inherent abuse to come, and they are certainly aware of it now, yet it continues, because like all the other entitlement programs, they have created a constituentcy that will always support them and "tar and feather" anyone trying to reform the system.carlson1 wrote:The Judge said it right he is a real moron.
