Go to the cops and explain what's going on. Take the dogs papers etc.
Then if she files a report, you already have information on record.

However a $100 lawyer letter can stop a lot.

I would microchip or tattoo the dog. If the dog is lost then it will be easy to ID.

Thanks for all the advice guys I think I am going to visit my county sheriff monday or tuesday and tell him what is going on. He is pretty cool and will hopefully keep things cool.

anyone know the legal side of dog ownership in Texas? I mean they are considered property right? so it would be small claims court civil case wouldn't it? I don't think anyone is drinking the koolaid she is pouring about drugs and guns. I have never even been questioned about either of those things in my 33 years on this planet.

Possession is nine-tenths of the law - plus you have the papers; I think you're in a very strong position. The main thing is the aggravation you're having to put up with - would that fall under any stalking laws?

IANAL. Unless you purchased the dog and gave it to your girlfriend it is yours. If you did give it to her, then it is hers. Apparently you still have the documents when you bought the dog that show you are the owner, so I don't understand the issue.

Even though you didn't ask, my advice is to leave her alone. Do not call, do not write, do not have anyone call on your behalf. Do not return her calls or messages. Do not have any contact or anything to do with her. If you see her on the street, go the other way. Find yourself a new hobby to keep you busy. I think I made myself clear.

From what I hear, ex wives are bigger trouble than ex girlfriends, and they usually want totake a lot more of your stuff than a dog.

If he can get one, a protective order might be a good idea. It also sounds like he has grounds for a defamation lawsuit, but she might be crazy enough to take th attention as encouragement
