Need Help Again - Shoulder Holster

Post by TheRising »

Hello Guys/Gals,

I should be getting my Glock 23 sometime this week (if my dad has the heart to finally send it to me). I am going to start carrying it as I carry the G17 that I have now, IWB nylon (ya I know, most of you don't like it). However, being that the G23 is a smaller gun overall, I was thinking about getting a shoulder holster too. The only problem that I have is that I know more about M-Theory than I do about shoulder rigs.

Do they make them small enough to be worn under a dress shirt?

Which ones are pretty good but moderately priced?

What do you look for in a shoulder rig?

Stuff like that. Thanks guys/gals, I appreciate it!!!

I am not a big fan of shoulder rigs, even though I do own one. If you want to conceal under a dress shirt, have a look at one of the undershirt holsters offered by Kramer http://www.kramerleather.com/productDet ... egoryID=21 or a new one that I haven't yet tried but looks like a good design offered by 5.11 http://511tactical.com/index.asp?dlrID= ... mber=40021

If you do go the shoulder rig route, I recommend the Galco Miami Classic. The leather is soft and it's fairly comfortable with a full sized pistol and two mags. Don't be cheap though, invest in the tie downs for both sides. It's worth the extra money.

Good Luck!

This is a very lightweight rig and very reasonable priced:

Have you tried the undershirt rigs? I am not sure how I would like one and I am reluctant to buy one from the internet just to get it and hate it. They do seem like a good idea though and Ihad considered buying one in the past.

Anyone have any experience??

I carry my G23 in a Kangaroo Shoulder Holster under my business casual dress shirts for deep concealment all the time and it's actually not bad. It looks to be pretty much the same as the one in the link above, but they had the Kangaroo brand at my range for sale and I was able to try it before I bought it.

All in all it conceals well on my slim, 6'2 160lb frame, under all manner of dress shirts.
My only issues with the system are the fact that it is very deeply concealed and slow to access and that when worn tight enough not to shift noticably - and it shifts around your torso, not up and down - it's actually tight enough to restrict your breathing a bit.
Not too much, but it's something you realize you're getting used to after a while.

I've been hoping to find a nice leather shoulder rig to try under the same style of dress but haven't yet. I worry that the straps would print through the thin material of the shirt or the gun wouldn't be kept nice and tight against the body but I'd still like to try it.

If you end up trying this type of system I think you'll find it does it's job very well.

That's amazing, I was just coming on here to post about the Kangaroo article I saw on GunBlast. I definitely think this is the route I am going down. Thanks for the peace of mind!!

Yes, I have the Kramer and it's great! It's perfect for weddings, funerals, etc. Anywhere a lot of hugging is going on because you can protect it from contact with grandmas arms, etc.
