just my opinion, but here it is:

if she can't manipulate a slide, chances are she won't be able to work most DA triggers found on pocket revolvers. my wife is a young, avid work-out-a-holic and has a hard time with her S&W .38 DA pull.

could you possibly take her to a local store/range and let her test her strength on the DA revolvers, then maybe the SA on those with exposed hammers?

I totally agree. My wife can't rack the slide on most pistols....and can barely pull the trigger on my Smith 642. She can do both on the Ruger SR22P I bought her.

My wife had a similar problem racking a G19 so she ended up with a S&W 431pd , 32H&R 6 shot.Very light and accurate.J frame, carries it in a Blackhawk OWB leather holster. They do come on the market now and again.

Good info guys... I'm thinking about picking up a revolver for myself, but I'd also like my mom to try one out as she has issues racking the slide on anything bigger than a .22. No problem with her shooting a DA auto though so I think she can handle it.

ive got a stainless sp101 5 shot, no hammer with 100rds through it $400. includes all box, paperwork etc. located in north d/fw and or houston.

I believe that S&W made some .32 j-frames.
Gives you one additional cartridge, and a bit less recoil than a .38 Spl.

My wife has the 642 airweight (no hammer). I think you'll like it. There is a bit of snap with +P loads, but it's not much more than what you get with a 9 mm semi auto. I have a Ruger LCR357 and I find the triggers similar, but the Ruger one seems a bit smoother and breaks cleaner. Both shoot well and are pretty much dead on at 10 yards. The one thing I don't like about the wife's S&W is that the sight is not easily replaceable, which is one of the reasons I got the Ruger. FWIW, I'm also finding that the Hornady FTX style rounds shoot great (both 38spl+P and 357 mag), but all the heavier bullets do not do so well in the snubbies. For example, I use 125gr rather than the 158gr. Don't know why, they just shoot better and obviously have less recoil. Good luck!

Bought my wife the Bodyguard 380 auto and it took her 2 fingers to sqeeze the trigger. Had her try many guns for a nice trigger pull and low and behold the Tuarus 709 slim in 9mm hit the spot. She loves it

For anyone reading this thread who is also in the market for a .38/.357 wheelgun,

You can get a .357 Magnum Rossi, 6 rounds, for $279.99. It's not a Smith or a Ruger, but it's inexpensive enough
to buy for a car/truck gun. I have the same revolver living in my seatbelt holster for a car BUG.
