Re: WH Petiton To Allow Social Security Opt Out
I did this research several years ago, so I don't have any links any more or anything.
What I found out was that you can go through the court system to have yourself removed from the Social Security program. The reasoning was that it was something you didn't consent to and your parents did when they registered you for a social security number. Apparently you don't have to register for a Social Security Number. But for your taxes, you will need to get an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). The only successful cases I've heard of were when the people petitioning the court recently turned 18.

Yea, I never signed up for this behemoth theft of wealth and redistribution, why am I subject to it?
They waste the money that I put into it anyways, it's just another revenue slush fund for them to fund more earmarks and pet projects anyways. It will be insolvent in a decade.

Re: WH Petiton To Allow Social Security Opt Out
My parents did not register me, I registered myself right after I turned 18. Back in those days there was no requirement to have a Social Security Insurance Identification Number. By that logic, I should be able to opt out, correct?Thomas wrote:I did this research several years ago, so I don't have any links any more or anything.

Since you registered yourself when you were a legal adult competent to make such a decision, it would probably be extremely difficult if not impossible IMO. I did a quick Google search earlier today and it looks like the topic has been discussed a bit more recently. Who knows, it might be easy. I don't know.jimlongley wrote:My parents did not register me, I registered myself right after I turned 18. I'd be more than happy to let SS keep what they have taken, never take more, and never send me anything if I could opt out of it today.
