should I (we) be concerned?

obviously everyone is very saddened on the tragic events that have taken place recently. I don't want to down play that in any way. I am only 27 and have not been actively buying firearms but only the last 2 years. I had planned to start looking into ARs a few months a go but regrettably bought a bolt gun. Now I am hearing all these rumors and seeing ads of people jacking up prices on AR items etc. I try to keep up on my phone or radio but its hard to separat the fact from fiction over the internet. Is there anyone that can either guide me to some place on what may go on? Should I try to be apart of this gun buying craze? I have heard of places removing all 223/5.56 ammo and AR sales, advertising etc. Buddy sent me a ad cheaper than dirt is running Pmags at 60.00+ now. I can tell you that I wont support places that are trying to make a buck of this stuff. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I was even old enough to by a gun legally when the assault ban was placed OR lifted.

To answer your first question “Should I (we) be concerned?” I would answer this with a resounding YES!
My short response, our 2nd amendment rights are under attack. The attack on or threat to ANY of our constitutional rights is something everyone should be concerned with.

As for your comments on Cheaper then Dirt and other retails gouging prices or removing AR’s and their ammo: Don’t buy into the buying hype. If you can scratch up the money to buy an AR, your money would be better off in the hands of an organization like the NRA. Why? The potential ban could include a confiscation of your newly acquired AR and you would be out both, your money and your rifle.
So, instead of everyone running out paying exaggerated prices for AR’s and accessories, they should be making contributions to an organization focused on fighting the assault on our rights in the first place. I’m willing to bet there are plenty of people out there buying up ammo and pmags who haven’t joined the NRA or haven’t’ moved up to a life time membership. In my humble opinion, the answer to the threat of losing the right to own these types of weapons isn’t to go by the weapons, it’s to organize and fight loosing the right in the first place.

Thanks for the replie. I don't have money to get an AR I am still doing shopping for my kids and birthdays in December. I was just seeing if people that have been through this can shed light on what happened before. Is this the worst it's been? Same? I try to read statements but the pro-gun side is staying calm and reserved. Which is good I think but makes me wonder.

I'm not buying an AR, I got an AK recently, had an SKS since the 1980s ban, haven't ever fired it ... but standard capacity Glock mags I'd expect to get outlawed as a concession if anything happens, lots of states have 10 round limits already on magazines. Standard 15-17 round Glock mags I'll actually use, and miss if they were gone.
So do Police only get 10 round mags in those States? what if they have standard capacity 15-17 rd mags, then get fired from the PD? What if they retire? I guess they magically reduce the capacity?

Last time I bought for investment to resell- like a newly hired officer can't locate standard capacity mags, or a >>>>>> Evil carbine with a folding stock and pistol grip that is black in color ...so hey, here's one ... but this time they are talking about outlawing transfer etc.

I already have a XD45 13 round mag with the 2 round added breastplate for 15+1 in .45 ... and my Glock mags

My 15 round Beretta mags with "restricted - law enforcement/government use only" on them should be a glaring reality of what we're facing. I'm not even going to go into the headache it was to acquire those during the previous ban.

According to all the local people I have talked to at Cabelas and some local gun shops sales have been crazy since prior to the tragic events. Well for AR's and the accompanying ammo. I am seeing the AR I want listed at a little below 900 on the actual manufactures website yet I find it here in there used for 1300? Like I said I am new to the gun sales being effected by elections/tragic events. So I was trying to get a feel of what to expect.

I believe he is referring to an importation ban. I don't think it applied to SKS rifles, though, or at least not all of them.

If you're interested, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that AKs are obscenely easy to make yourself. I mean, I doubt there's much panic buying of block steel.
