Son's school project

Been meaning to post this for a while.

My son in 7th grade was tasked with a Texas History project which required the students to create a board game based on...you guessed it, Texas History.

When the projects were completed, the teacher asked my son if he would mind leaving his project as an example for future students. I thought this was awesome as I wasn't sure at first that he would even be allowed to do what he wanted to do for the project.

The guns were hand drawn by my 5th grade son. They had a lot of fun putting everything together. And that's just the box, you should see the game.

Disclaimer: I know the guns aren't accurate to the period, but they are awesome looking.

that's great! the drawing is wonderful! I love that the teacher allowed the project...you were right to be concerned.

I put the picture of the gun on FB right after my son drew it. I immediately was contacted by a lawyer friend who insisted that I not let him take it to school or draw anything like it at school. He nearly had a cow when I told him why my son had drawn it in the first place.

To make a long story short, I work at the campus my son attends so I jumped through a few hoops to ensure there would not be any issues. One of the things I did was count the number of pics in the text book that included guns and other weapons. Ultimately, it was the teacher who defended the project. He said, "we just got through watching the 'Alamo' for Pete's sake!"

It also helps that it is a Charter school.
