That's a neat idea! Far better than taking it out semewhere, shooting it full of holes, and then leaving it to rust and further blighting the landscape.

I haven't seen the actual fridge. It does look like there is a handle that swings to secure the door once its closed. If I built it, that handle would have a lock and there would be other means of securing the door.

I use a small fridge to store primers and reloading whatnot.
Part of the whatnot is a bag full of cat crystal litter as a desiccant.

You can cut a refrigerator into pieces with a hacksaw and crowbar. You can take off the door hinges with a screwdriver and vise grips in minutes.

BTW, someone thought of putting valuables (or illegal drugs) in containers in the freezer. It was a good idea at the time. Now burglars and cops executing warrants know to look there.

When I was a teenager, I read a book I believe was "A Child's Garden of Grass", (http://www.amazon.com/childs-garden-off ... 0843103469" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It was a handbook for marijuana users. (I read it for entertainment purposes only!) Anywhoo, there was a chapter on where to hide your 'stash'. The best, I thought, was "Throwing it way up into the air -- works fine for short periods of time". At the end of the chapter, they advised not using any of their hiding places, since "Now everybody knows about them".

P.S. WOW! Judging by those prices on Amazon, I wish I'd kept it!

A recurring theme on firearms forums is where to hide guns and other stuff. Ideas like hollowed-out books and cereal boxes on the pantry shelf keep coming up.

These techniques might fool a burglar who just wants to grab what he can carry in both hands and get out. They won't fool professional burglars or, as I said, cops.

Also the hollowed-out book just might be picked up by a guest who has a sudden desire to read War and Peace. Though I read in the news a while back that one of these hollowed-out books with a gun in it turned up in a Goodwill somewhere.

Me too, and I just happen to have a full size upright freezer (with lock) that is broke....might use it now as an ammo shelve.
