Maturity verses Immaturity. That is exactly what gives LEO's a bad rap.

I'm neither a LEO nor a fan of the COPS show, but I understood exactly what he meant. I also understand what frustrated him so. He was reporting something he thought would be interesting and he got jumped on for extraneous stuff; the way it was worded, whether or not it conveyed the correct information, etc.

Well I am a fan of LEO's. I was one, my son is one, and my brother is Chief Deputy in Smith County (Tyler) and I love LEO's. But when you have a LEO that just steps a little out of line it appears to be bad because they are help do a higher standard.

It went bad here:

Carlson, hate to say it but it has been heading to the bad place for a while, While Mike may be an LEO he is also an appologist for bad behavior, we question, he excuses no I am not trying to pick at him just stating what I have been seeing. the more posts he responds to makes my case, if we question he says its because we aren't LEO's if we disagree with a decision an LEO has made he berates us for being anti LEO and haters. While Mike may be a great friend he is part and parcel of the blue line and either he was genuinly interested or he was just looking to see how much grief the CHL community was going to cause to that us vs. them mentality. Shold you feel my post is in error or outside the rules please PM me so we can discuss privately :tiphat:

Wow. One of the wonderful and unique aspects of the community that has developed from this forum is that, even when there is a contentious issue with two parties unable to see each other's side, it's always a civil exchange. Maybe I missed something reading between the lines or sent via PMs, but I didn't see anything that was an ad-hom. Seems like a knee jerk reaction to request being deletion from the forum.

ETA: Responed too early... Comments from Carlson1 and JP171 shed more light on the situation. Good riddance.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, this thread brings to light a trend that I have notice on the forum of late, a trend that I am as guilty contributing to as anyone else.

It seems lately that there is much more sarcasm (actual or perceived) than there has been in the past. As I stated, I'm as guilty as anyone else. I have taken steps to read and reread my posts before posting and often after seeing people's reaction I find myself apologetic for either posting something that said exactly what I meant (in a manner less than civil), or posting something worded in a manner that could be perceived as being less than civil. Just in the last few days I have been called out (appropriately) by other members and saw their point, editing my posts according.

Conversely, there are some threads that I will simply avoid because the self appointed moderators (not actual moderators) will attack with arrogance and sarcasm anytime you slightly disagree with their point of view.

I will continue to participate and continue to monitor myself while being open to legitimate criticism of my input. Hopefully others will do the same.

Edited to remove statement that could cause offense.

I think as adults a little give and take here is to be expected.

What does that mean...?

If you're disagreed with...hang in there.

Don't drive off in a huff-mobile.

Be flexible.

I've been roundly chastised for some of my opinions. So what? I don't expect all to agree with what I have to say.

As for people being a little sarcastic or in some other manner exhibiting behavior that's less than ideal, we're all grown ups. We can take it.

Expecting us as a group to an get A in deportment with every post is unrealistic (prim and proper with every post aint ever gonna happen) As long as our conduct remains within the guidelines, we're good to go...

Mikedude, come back, offer up your opinions, they're as valid (or not) as anyone else's here.

The main thing is to participate...

The guy came in and posted something he heard. He didn't put it in "quote specific language", but rather in a conversational type of language.

He immediately gets called out, and repeatedly. I have had that happen to me too here, but I suppose I stood my ground more and didn't leave.

Brad Paisely wrote a song about this kind of thing I believe....

:iagree:
Not suggesting we can't or shouldn't have disagreements. Not suggesting that we all hold hands and sing kumbaya my Lord. But I do think that we (myself included) can take the time to take a second look at what we are posting to ensure that we maintain at least the basic semblance of civility.

Wow...what is it with people? Someone says something you don't like / don't agree with and you bail? Man, I'd hate to get pulled over by you...you should have just done what others have. Make a big spectacle about blocking someone.
