The Moderators have been discussing the promotion of other websites and blogs that do not fall within the rule dealing with commercial websites. While we have no desire to prevent people from learning about other gun-related sites, we simply do not have the time to review these sites to see if they are in keeping with our rules, or if they are something that we do not want promoted on the Forum.
We have no problem with a long-time Member posting a reference to such a site, but when someone joins just to promote their site, or when a new Member joins to post a link with or without a question, it raises a concern. We are not going to put these types of posts under the 45 post rule; we want a lot more experience with a Member than a mere 45 posts. In short, we want to know a Member referencing or recommending other sites well enough to trust their recommendation confident that they have vetted the site before recommending it to our Members. We simply don't/can't have that level of experience and trust with someone who hasn't been a part of the "family" for an extended time and who has made a lot more than 45 posts.

Re: Promotion of websites/blogs
The well-thought out rules (and letting folks know about them) is why this forum is so good.
