Texas is a different creature. Most of those don't want what's going on as well. If there is a memo passed around to all LEO's saying to ignore and arrest any federal agents trying to enforce a federal gun ban, then I'm sure they will comply.

That's a power they gave themselves, They were never allotted that power per the constitution.

And you think states passing a law that they can't enforce will change that? Please. I don't for one minute think anyone on this forum is that naive. There are only 2 ways to take back power that a government has taken for itself. One is force of law, which, TBH, is almost impossible to accomplish because the government that took said power *IS* the law. The other is force of arms.

So once again, this law does what exactly?

I do believe that if you have been here for any length of time you will know where I stand on these issues.

Wasting time on useless legislation is not advancing our cause. Symbolism does not mean much in my world.

Providing the feds with excuses and showing them your hand through these meager attempts means nothing.

Pouncing on unconstitutional actions within the state's borders witout warning would cause them to draw their hand out of the fire.

That should have happened at Waco. If you expected Ma Richards to say anything, too bad.

Eric Holder will simply select a few people to make examples of, the Federal marshalls will show up and kick down those doors and the Texas citizens will go to a Federal detention facility...end of story. If the Texas AG elects to sue the Feds over that enforcement, the court case will work its way through the Federal courts and those affected will either be in jail or will have been assessed fines, whatever comes along with the EO.

To my way of thinking, Texas would be the place that Holder would be more likely to select people of whom examples could be make.

What happens after the arrests are made public is anyone's guess. There is no question in my mind that if an EO is issued, it is going to be enforced.

This law will make "any federal law banning semi-automatic handguns or limiting the size of gun magazines unenforceable within the state's boundaries."

Not only will this put Texas shoulder-to-shoulder with Wyoming in making it a felony for anyone--including federal agents--to try to enforce new gun control, but according to the Tenth Amendment Center it is in perfect harmony with the actions of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, "who has already filed over twenty-three lawsuits against the federal government."

I would have to estimate that 80% of all bills submitted to both the Texas legislature and the US congress are designed to

A- be purely symbolic (as I believe this one to be)

B- get some free press for a legislator.

C- force a vote from your opponents.

It will do some good it lets Obama he is going to get some serious opposition

I think it does good in that it tells the Federalis "we don't like yall around here" and "yall are not welcome". So in a threatening gesture I think it means alot. However TX has to have the guts it was born with to stare the FEDS down and beat them at their game. After the situation with the TSA and TX...I dunno. However if 30 of the states say "not in my back yard you won't" I think that would have some practical effect.
