So these companies need to file legal name changes now? And the companies must re-number the model numbers - for example, an illegal Remington 870 becomes legal as Remington model 871 or Remmy ArmsCo Model 870

How in the world is this an assault weapon?! These people are truly out of their minds. I'm not sure why that surprises me, but when I saw an 1100 on the list I was floored.

If only it was as easy as a name change, the bill doesn't specify these by name I believe. The top of that page even says "This list is intended only as a guide and is not meant to be an exclusive, exhaustive list".

I doubt it. . . I'm guessing they just weren't added to this page. If so, I'd have a huge smile and sound like briar rabbit, "No! Please don't make me get rid of my 5.56 and get a .308! Don't do that! I love my 5.56! A .308 is nothing more than a HUNTING rifle! .308 is 5.252 smaller than 5.56. . . how will I protect myself?! Please?!"

*I realize they're not making people get rid of guns, although I wonder if there will be some counties that purposefully hold up the paperwork in an attempt to invalidate attempts to register some firearms.

I didn't read it but if they have an annual registration fee ... that's infringement and discriminatory to the extent it discriminates against Impoverished and unemployed ad indigent and disabled or any lower income group or Gender, or race who are not yet getting "Obama Money" ...

I just read more of the criteria. Basically everything is illegal. . . and it's dangerously poorly written. Being heavy (> 55 oz.) is a characteristic of pistols listed. Also, having a place to put your "nontigger hand in a way that it will not get burned".

Hopefully the pro-2A refugees will move to our state and politically counteract the economic refugees coming from California.

Trying to account for and stop all of the creativity of the manufacturers made this a really ugly, ambiguous, and dangerous piece of legislation. A lot of things in there are open to interpretation. There's several characteristics listed and then it'll say in parenthesis, "like an x, y, or z type firearm".

They even banned 22's. Massad Ayoob's site shows a photo of the gun they used to illustrate an "assault rifle" and it's an M&P 15/22. Wow, 22 rimfire assault rifles.

Looks to me like you can have an M-1 Carbine with a 10 round mag fully loaded, an M-1 Garand fully loaded and a German Luger fully loaded as long as mag and gun are over 50 years old. But assault pistols and assault shotguns...what a concept --a completely fabricated and dishonest concept.

Anybody want to venture a guess whether this legislation would prohibit a FOPA journey through NY State while in possession of banned weapons or mags?

If I'm driving from TX through CA en route to WA with my non-bullet-button AR broken down and locked, is that illegal in CA? Will FOPA cover me (assuming I'm not stopping for anything other than gas, food and restrooms)?
