I am starting to reload .223 and would like advice on case prep. I have a Dillon XL 650 and am looking at a 1200 B Trimmer, I want to reload quite a few rounds and don't want to start to small only to have to upgrade. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
What I have now.
1. Dillon XL 650
2. Hornaday Magnum Sonic Cleaner
3. Lyman 2500 Turbo Polisher
I have loaded about 40K rounds of 9mm so far and feel fairly confident but the rifle brass requires quite a bit more prep.

Much cheaper! Also much faster and removes the need for removing the rough burs left by trimming.
I was able to trim 1000 cases easily in one afternoon.

I will second what "ddstuder" said. I bought one of these based on the recommendation of someone else on the board and it works great!

Measure the case with a caliper. Mine came from the manufacturer set to trim the case to the correct length. It is easy to adjust if you need to. There are a couple of set screws that lock the cutter in place. Just loosen the set screws and move the cutter. BTW, the cutter is an end mill. A replacement (if it is ever needed) can be obtained at any mill supply store.

I've been looking at more expensive trimmers trying to decide which is the best for the money,I stumbled upon this thread and I just ordered one,I really love these forums where people offer tips and advice to further the sport

I have a WFT. It is a nice trimmer but is hand operated. For the volume of loading that the XL650 can do you might be disappointed with anything other than the 1200 B Trimmer.
