Road Trip to Houston.

Post by Glock_Tacular »

Making a road trip to Houston from Dallas for the weekend to participate in my NFL pro day combine. Any advice, pointers, places to avoid, ect. for the area while I CC?

Anything will be helpful! All relating to carrying of course.

Disarm before you run the 40, no need to carry the extra weight. ;-)

Houston is a semi-big place. I'd say avoid the 3rd ward(maybe more wards, that I may not be familiar with), acres homes. Wow, this reminds me of the classic 70's movie with Charlton Heston(Omega Man)...LOL

Houston is not too bad if you stay out of downtown and areas near the South Loop. Not that the whole area is sketchy but it's a more target rich environment than the West Loop or even the North Loop.
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.

Remember concealed means concealed.
Inside the loop, The Heights, The Montrose, River Oaks, Memorial, Downtown, Kirby, The Galleria, West U., The Museum District, Rice, and Midtown are all safe neighborhoods whose residents will 911 MWAG you in a heart beat. The neighborhoods to the east are quite heavily patrolled by HPD and they have a less than welcoming attitude toward CHLers. Outside the loop the western neighborhoods south of I-10 and North of 59 are nice areas, but the rest of the areas inside the beltway are a hodge podge of nice and not so nice were a wrong turn might be troubling. The hodge podge nature continues outside the beltway until Hwy 6/FM1960 to the north, west and south. YMMV

Thanks y'all for the detailed input. I'll keep ya posted after I've completed the event.

I know that I'll be mainly downtown and by Relient Park for the majority of my stay. But, I definitley want to explore Houston.
