Suspect arrested after laser pointed at helicopter

Post by Keith B »

Hmm, probably not smart to point a laser at a police helicopter equipped with FLIR cameras.
Dallas police arrested a man in southeast Dallas early Monday morning after officers say he pointed a laser light at a police helicopter.

Appearently the suspect was in his underwear, sitting in the backyard, when the police arrived to arrest him.

Not smart.

Here is a guy in Garland that hope did not buy a lottery ticket because he picked the wrong plane to point a laser at because it turned out to be the FBI. "rlol"

A Garland man was arrested Thursday night after he pointed a laser at the wrong plane -- an FBI aircraft that happened to be flying nearby, the FBI said.

The FBI pilot flew over Garland to investigate after other pilots complained about a bright light, said FBI Special Agent Mark White.

Why do they do it? What's the point? What do they get out of pointing a laser at an aircraft?

that's anybody's guess
when we lived in Jacksonville Florida for 20 plus years, its was common right after the new choppers arrived for the sheriffs to get hit with NIGHT sun type lamps trying to blind the pilots. a few that were caught thought it was funny, easy low flying target.
I helped with the install of flir and other see in the dark gear. it didn't take log for arrests to be made
