Are CHL instructors doing more business?

Post by Chemist45 »

Guns are selling out all over, not just EBRs but handguns as well.
I'm told there are lots of first time buyers in this current frenzy.
I'm wondering if they are signing up for CHL classes.

How about it instructors - Are you seeing more people signing up for their CHL class?

I was wondering about this too. But I was wondering if there's a decrease in folks getting their chl because you can't find ammo anywhere to practice or learn to shoot with.

Talked to one this weekend at a gun show. She normaly does two per month but due to increase in requests for licenses will be holding class every Sat and Sun in Feb and March. She is taking 20 per class and Feb was sold out and most of March was booked.

I have been so busy! Classes of at least 20 every weekend. I have asked my classes why they are choosing to get Chl''s now and the responses I get are mostly because of the government. I have lots of people that say I am not a gun person but feel like I need to be now. More power to them. I am teaching age 21 to 74 and lots of women.
I conceal carry because I choose not to be a victim.

Unlike some instructors doing greater volume, I have never promoted CHL classes as intended to teach beginners how to shoot. That said, both Handguns 101 and CHL class numbers have increased appreciably in recent weeks, as well as requests for private training on shotguns and ARs.

Where I teach, they usually run one about every 3rd weekend. Lately, it's been every weekend.

I wonder if DPS has any stats available as to number of applications since mid December 2012...

Nice to get more people with CHL's, but need to stress the need for proper training and practice.
