Concealed carry at private school?

Post by Matt78665 »

I will be attending a childs birthday party this weekend. Part of the party is being held at a private primary school. (Free use of space for alot of kiddos) Do statutes exist the prevent legal concealed carry in private schools? Am I ok if it is not posted? Thanks in advance. :patriot: :txflag:

You cannot carry there unless you have permission from the school or school district. Written permission would be the best so you could have proof.

Thanks alot. There is no school district since its a privately owned school. I do not know the owner so I guess no carry for the B-day party. Thanks alot for the quick response

I was busy looking up the code to back up my answer.

Here it is ...
PC §46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED.
(a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a):
(1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution;

What's the difference in a "DayCare Center" and a "Private Primary School"?
The sign?
The curriculum?

or is Primary the name for Elementary
--------like Middle school (which isn't in the middle between Elem and College) used to be Junior High

Do Preppers go to Prep School?

Seems like I was in Kindergarten and graduated to "Junior Primary" (Kindergarten's second semester) prior to the first grade so is "Senior Primary" first grade??

You can leave the weapon locked in the car while at the bday party same as a regular public school.
