Mom home alone shoots intruder - featured on Michael Berry

I am assuming this was covered on this forum when it happened, but I could not find the thread. It happened January 25, 2013.

A mom home alone with her child at night in Magnolia, was robbed by three illegal aliens (undocumented immigrants). She was interviewed on the Michael Berry show this morning and it was very interesting hearing the details for the first time from the victim.

Her,what not to do, what to do, was really compelling.

After hearing the glass break, she covered her small child under the covers in his bed and told him not to move. She then went looking for the pistol. It was in one of three places, but she did not know which, she had checked two of the places and had not found it.

At this point she was confronted by the three men, one with a knife, one with a gun and one with a brand new unopened roll of duct tape.

They demanded money, she said that they did not have much, and suggested the TV. They wanted more, so she said that she had some money hidden in the bedroom. Going in the bedroom with the three men, she realized she had one chance to survive this because that was the third place the gun could be. Their dogs provided a necessary distraction and she found the gun and shot the one with the knife. (insert knife to gunfight remark) The man with the gun fled, the wounded man with the knife fled, the man with the duct tape ran into another bedroom and hid in her husbands closet, sitting on top of his loaded shotgun on the floor.

She went in there but did not shoot at him and he then bolted and tried and succeeded in taking the gun from her, punching her in the eye in the process. He fled with the gun and like any momma with her child in danger, she chased him out of the house, attempting to probably kill him with her bare hands.

It was fascinating to hear her story. The good the bad, and the just plain lucky.

Great story... glad she got out of this with just a black eye... could have been a lot worse!

Could have been much worse.

Glad she's OK, but sheesh: At least 2 firearms in the house, but no awareness
of their location until well after her death could have happened.

Crazy gun nut shoots man just for breaking into her house

Everybody knows that guns don’t protect people. More guns = more gun crimes. Like this one!

MAGNOLIA, Texas-

I think it’s pretty obvious what happened here. Some hardworking gentlemen from the Hispanic community were just trying to make a living selling duct tape door-to-door. They were going for the hard sell because times are tough, especially when you’re a minority. Then this demented hillbilly racist went nuts and just started shooting at them. And because it’s Texas — gun-wacko central! — they arrested the victim.

Are you happy now, Wayne LaPierre? Are you satisfied?

I don't like to second guess, someone who has successfully done some thing I would to hate to have to go through, but unsecured guns and children is a no no. This however may be due to the perceived capibility of her child. However, children can fool you. With this you don't ever want to be wrong.

When mine were youngsters, I never took risks like that with my weapons. Evn if my own knew not to touch them, they had friends who may not have known.

I bet she will know from now on exactly where the guns are and hopefully, they will be secured. Except for the one she carries on her person at all times. I'm glad her lesson was not too costly.
