NY: A different kind of "bank robbery"

Post by seamusTX »

In Manhattan yesterday an NYPD officer observed two men using an ATM. Something about them aroused his suspicion: One of them was using a gold ATM card with no markings.

The officer followed and observed the men as they used ATMs at numerous bank branches on the upper west side. After a time he called for backup, and the two men were arrested.

They allegedly possessed over 250 ATM cards, some blank and some with normal logos, and over $50,000 in cash.

They were charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and scheme to defraud.

They were Canadians from Ontario in their 20s, apparently of Indian descent.

The probable cause for this arrest should be interesting, but I'm sure they will come up with something that works in court.
