This is my first post. 12 years ago I was arrested for a non-violent "Class B" misdemeanor. I paid a fine and did community service. I reported to the parole officer, who said I had completed there terms of the court and I was done. I never received an official document from the court that the case was dismissed. However, today I went to the "Dallas County Criminal Background Search Service" and found my case had been dismissed. Question: Will a printout of this search with my application for a CHL? Or does DPS look for something else? If they do need something more, where do I start? The court was located in the Frank Crowley Courts Building, here in Dallas.
Thanks from the new guy!

Contact the Dallas County Criminal Court Clerk. They should have the disposition records you need.

Get your "Final Court Order Proceeding" have several certified copies made.
Check your Criminal File on the DPS website, you will need to create a account and buy credits to see your file.
Your File is PROBABLY NOT UPDATED so you will need to contact DPS records and send the certified copies to them via email so they can update your file, and then ask them if they can contact FBI and have your File updated there also.
Once this is done you can again check your DPS Criminal File on line to make sure. It takes about 2 weeks for FBI to update their file on you.
Then send your packet in and include a copy of the "Final Court Ordered Certified Copy"
I know this will take time but you will know for sure your records have been updated. You could even do your own "Morpho" / " F 1 " Statewide Fingerprint Check it will cost $24.95 and you get results back in a day as a walk in. Make sure you are clean, well dressed, as they take your picture and keep it on file. They will take a personal check no credit cards.
Dont assume anything until You have the FACTS.
Best of Luck
