Is the 6th floor museum posted 30.06?
I remember reading that it is but it is not listed on texas3006.com and a search here yields no results.

It's a small, non-compliant sign in white letters on the glass door when you go in, but yes, there is one.
However, isn't the Texas Book Depository building still owned by the City or County of Dallas?

They have a metal detector as you enter the display area. I would think the OP would not want to carry unless he 100% wants to be the test case.

Hmmmm. Don't see metal detectors listed in the TPC as making the 30.06 on government property any more valid. This is just one more reason we need HB508 to pass.steveincowtown wrote:They have a metal detector as you enter the display area. Although, seeing as how the Texas School Book Depository is also the Dallas County Administration Building, there may be court offices in it which would make it statutorily off-limits, though the 30.06 would still be invalid.

Agreed on both points.RottenApple wrote:Hmmmm. Don't see metal detectors listed in the TPC as making the 30.06 on government property any more valid. My point is there is a 100% chance he will be a test case if he chooses to carry. It is not like some other venues where we just say "concealed is concealed."

I don't disagree with you. But, I should point out, I was only answering the question as to who owns the property. Not whether it was smart to carry there or not.steveincowtown wrote:Agreed on both points.

I have no intention of being a test case. Don't worry.

There were no metal detectors there the last time I went, but it's been about 4 years or so since I've been there. I guess they've installed them.
Perhaps there's a special CHL line like at the Capitol in Austin?

Visited the museum today. Gun buster sign on the door along with a 30.06 sign in English only. Letter size is definitally too small.
No metal detectors.

I went there in December 2011 - the 30.06 sign in English only, printed on 8.5 x 11 paper. Letter size is way less than 1 inch. No metal detectors then. I drive by this building every work day, and have noticed the gun buster sign appearing. This building does house the County Commissioners court, I believe. Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price has his office somewhere inside. Not sure if this would have any bearing on legal CHL carry, though, if the court was not in session.Zoti wrote:Visited the museum today. Too bad it wasn't posted in 1963. Oswald would have had to leave his brown paper package in his friend's car. JFK would have averted Vietnam. And lastly, Oliver Stone's generation would have all been well adjusted.

I was there a couple weeks ago with my wife. The actual Government stuff is not accessible from the museum side. You have to go outside and then in a separate set of doors. Given that, and the improper 30.06 I carried anyway.
