Oh, it was a Ram truck ad.

I have close relatives that are farmers, hard workers, and they all drive Dodge trucks. Advertising aside, I always liked Paul Harvey.

Yeah, I think it was actually an ad for farmers, and Dodge just tried to do one of those corporate sponsorship things.

Either way though, I think it was my favorite ad. (Although I think my favorite Superbowl-related ad will be the as-yet unreleased ad for a power company that didn't plunge the single most watched 3 hours of american TV into darkness.)

It was nice to hear his gravelly succinct message, again. There's no one out there with such a recognizable voice.

I remember first hearing him on the radio in 1966. He started working at a radio station when he was 14. His noon time program began in 1951, he signed a 100 million dollar radio contract in 2000, but lost his voice soon after. Amazing life.

I thought it was an awesome commercial. I grew up in a rural area, where a good chunk of the folks were farmers. Started riding horses at 6, learned to drive a tractor and got my first gun (an old .22 single shot rifle) at 8; pulled/set tobacco plants and threw a bunch of hay. It struck a deep chord in my soul. At the same time, I immediately thought; wow, wish we could come up with a 2nd ammendment commercial JUST LIKE THAT; something deeply patriotic. I think it would be check and mate - all patriots would rally. I'd donate money to help run it.
