DD214 question

New here and hello.

Did my online app yesterday and paid as a military vet. All good, no probs. Looked at my DD214 last night and I only have member copy 1 and it does not have block 24 showing honorable discharge. It is, but my DD214 does not show it. Did some searching on net and apparently this happens a lot. Thirteen years ago the admin dude said don't loose this piece of paper, I didn't and now it is no good? I got a VA home loan, job with a defense contractor, a federal secret clearance, and cleared for a top secret, all with that piece of paper, but won't be able to get my reduced rate CHL?

I have no probs paying full price, but my app is already submitted.

Gonna call today and ask.

Any input in the meantime?

You probably need Copy 4. It has more info on it than Copy 1, not sure why that is.

I sent in Copy 1 and it was rejected. I found my copy 4 and faxed it to em and all is good. I believe I was given the option in the letter sent by them to either provide copy 4 or pay the full price to proceed.

Just talked to them. Said I can send in copy of HD cert. The one most people frame and put on wall. I am good.

If you have a VA loan, I bet you have a copy of the correct DD-214 in the pile of all the paperwork you have from closing.

Since you're good to go now for your CHL, I recommend for the future you get a proper copy of your DD214. You can get it for free. You do the request online and submit, then print the form and sign it, and while your request is being processed, snail mail the signed form to the address they provide. In about 2 weeks, you'll have a certified copy of your DD214 that will show type of discharge along with all the other info. Start your request here:
