Re: Moving from Louisiana to Texas?
If you are establishing residency in TX, you will need to go through the TX CHL requirements (application, class, prints, photo, etc).

CHL's don't transfer to Texas. You have to go through the whole process, just like any other newbie.

I figured as much but was hoping that there might be a short cut. For the record I'm a Texan who has been stuck elsewhere! I'm in the process of applying for job in Tx as it time to get closer to family, so not neccesarily headed home yet! I just recently got my CHL here and was just curious.

You'll find the CHL process much friendlier and faster in Texas. I just went through getting a permit in Louisiana. It's great being able to log on to the Texas DPS website and check the status of your app, even if it doesn't speed processing time. I was getting antsy in Louisiana and only knew the app was received because of delivery tracking.Scottywalter wrote:I figured as much but was hoping that there might be a short cut.
