Obviously the victims could have dealt with this better. Larger caliber, continue shooting until the threat was stopped, etc. But in my book, both victims lived = win.

This happened in Southern Illinois so I am not that surprised by her act of self defense. Most everything south of Sprinfield is a complete 180 from the Chicago. Highland is surrounded by rual farm country. I'd say a good portion of the residents own some type of firearm, hunting and preditor control are populare activities. I have a good friend that owned a electronics store in Highland, he probably knows these two ladies as he knows most everyone I town. Heck, he probably knows the perp.

I have to tell you, I don't like this kind of response at all. We should not be criticizing victims because they didn't do what we think we would have done in the same or similar situation. Both she and her sister survived, and the BG is in custody and may die. That's the best possible outcome, and we should celebrate that, not criticize her. She had enough situational awareness to make sure the gun was handy, and that saved her and her sister's life. I hope I'm as successful should the occasion every arise.
