What kinda of watches do the military use?

There was a time when UDT/SEAL guys were issued Rolex Submariners, at least into the 1970's. I believe pilots got some sort of aviators watch. Back in the old days before digital, Rolex was the standard. Now, not so much.

My $30 Timex Ironman keeps better time than my Rolex Day-Datejust Oyster Perpetual. I have a Casio Pathfinder which synchs to WWV keeps better time than all of them, and has tides, compass, moon phases, altimeter, timer, stopwatch, biorythms and a bunch of other stuff I don't even know how to work.

I know the G-Shock series is popular with many on active duty now.

Back in the 60's I was issued a military watch. It was OD, with black face, white hands and numerals. Looked like this one on eBay

Does the military issue watches? They gave me underwear, socks, shirts and pants but never did get a watch.

I wore a Timex and a Seiko. I admired the Glycine Airman that some pilots wore. I don't know if those were issued or not.
Marathon CSARs and TSARS have NSNs 6645-01-544-0408 and 6645-21-558-0133. That doesn't mean they are issued.

I was issued a luminox by the army in 1983 then again in 85 and once more in 87, but not in 89. the one they issued was the one with the tritium hands and markers, the run about 200 now, yep I buy them and love them all black white lettering. they are marketed as a US Navy Squeel watch. good time keepers hard to break and water resistant to 200 meters or 660 ft of pressure oh and are not electrically conductive

Yep and in the 60's we had some hair too!

We were "business in the front party in the back". Something like this:

Bought my Hamilton, no issue, at the exchange in Mainz. Same as issue watch without the engraved case back. I sent my Tudor (graduation present) home, way to shiny.

Well before my time in the 1960's and before Soldiers were issued a watch, because owning one was not common place.

Once upon a time, you could sign for a watch from the unit supply room.

I had watches in my supply room in 2008. When Soldier was late to a formation and told his platoon sergeant it was because he did not have a watch.. off to the supply room they went to have the Soldier sign for a watch. Said watch was then inspected for accountability and proper time keeping 24 times a day for proper time keeping. Said Soldier announced the time every 5 min to the company area from 0400 to 1700 for a few days.. after about a week, the Soldier and his platoon Sergeant was given the choice to keep the watch (as a piece of unit equipment to be turned in upon leaving the unit) or turn it in. I rarely had Soldiers late to formation for some months after that.

Since the time I came in to the Army 1985, Soldiers have largely provided there own watch.. though I could have signed for one in my unit supply room at my first unit (it was offered at inprocessing)

That said, I wore one watch the entire time I served. After 6 years of service, and another year of post-military life it finally broke :( I need to get another! Most of the other guys wore something similar. G-Shock's were pretty popular.

When my kids got in my new car a couple months ago, it doesn't have a digital clock. They said, that's one of those "old timey" clocks with the "hand thangies" on it.

I have spent some time substitute teaching in a local high school. One kid asked me, "What time is it?" I responded buy pointing to the analog clock on the wall. He then said, "I can't read clocks like that."

I didn't know how to respond..

That's what called "a teaching moment". Teaching older kids to read an analog clock (that's all I have up in my classroom) takes only a few minutes - then they've got something most of the other kids don't!
