DFW Homeowner kills burglar

Pipkins mother, Catherine, said she had been called to the scene by her daughter-in-law and said the crime sounded like something her son would do.

"Yeah, it's something he would do ... Somebody called me and said my son got shot that's the reason I'm standing here," said Catherine Pipkins. "Somebody called her [her daughter-in-law] and told her he had got shot. She said, 'Momma you need to sit down, they said BJ just got killed.' That's the reason I'm here."

The woman said her son did not live at the home.

Pipkins had a lengthy criminal history in Dallas that included numerous charges for theft, trespassing and possession of a controlled substance.

On the news tonight a relative said he was trying to turn his life around. Why do they live in these delusions? Clearly his mother knew what he was - a drug abusing thief.

I would say, let is chop his right hand after the third burglary/robbery/bank hold up/ or 2nd aggravated violent theft/robbery. Let us see how many would turn their life around after a while.

I will go to the next level up and say that I hope he didn't have a chance to breed before Darwinism took its course.

I'm not totally naive. However, I do think some of them really do want to turn their lives around, but just can't help themselves. It's too big of a change. I had a few guys in the Navy get themselves into trouble and try and turn things around. A few of them asked if they could hang with me and try and stay out of trouble. Most of them couldn't handle it. I didn't hardly drink and played a lot of sports and worked. All three of those things drove them crazy and they usually didn't last a month with me before going back to their old ways. Most of them were discharged within a year for various reasons.

My pet peeve is a criminal or the people that raised the criminal, acting as if said criminal should receive some kind of "fair" shake.

Maybe he should have come to the door, rang the bell and gave the homeowners a warning that he planned to rob their house. Then the homeowner may have given him warning that doing so, would result in him defending his family, life and property with deadly force. jezzz, where do these people come from that think the victim has no rights and crimial and unlimited rights.

And for all she knows, maybe he DID issue a warning. She wasn't there, and the burglar is dead. The only one who KNOWS what happened is the homeowner, and he was within his rights. End of story.

I'll give some credit to the mother. . . she acknowledged her son's culpability and seemed to know this day was coming. She's not one of those screaming, "My poor innocent baby! All he ever did is go to Sunday School and help the less fortunate, then evil like this befell him!!!"

Still, when it comes down to GG vs. BG, the right one won here (assuming the homeowner is, in fact, one of the "GGs").

Preemptively, I have no reason to suspect he's not, and without such evidence, do not intend to insinuate he's not.

Until further notice, the homeowner is nothing more than a victim of a crime who took proper steps to defend himself.
