Stubbs BBQ Iota free concert

Post by Ivan244 »

Friend of mine scored free tickets to event called "Road to the Final Four Concert Series presented by Coke Zero" at Stubbs BBQ tomorrow afternoon. She sent me the copy of the email and just reading it I noticed where it stated SECURITY:All fans must pass through a security check, including a metal detector, before entering the venue.

Does anyone know if I can CC at event? Not sure if this falls under can't carry at concert or I maybe thinking of professional sporting event. Have never been to Stubbs before so not sure about any 30.06 signs. I'll call if no one is aware.

Thanks,

No law saying can't carry at a concert. But this is a private (not government) owned venue, so as soon as a security guard tells you orally "no guns allowed" you have been effectively notified under PC 30.06

This differs from government owned venues that use metal detectors, because government owned or leased venue cannot give valid effective 30.06 notice (except for government meeting exception).

Also be sure to check for 51% signs, since this place is 5th/6th street area of Austin and much of that area is 51% bar locations. I think Stubbs sells enough BBQ to not qualify as 51% but the concert venue could be separate liquor license.

Can try searching here: http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/PublicInquiry/Status.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Red sign = 51% no guns
Blue sign = restaurant sign, CHL OK

Stubb's is not a 51% location. However, they have the right to search and prohibit concealed carry at the concert, including using metal detectors.

If it's the same location I'm thinking, they have a 51% sign, but it is incorrectly posted.
