Beaumont/Beeville prisons implement cellphone blocking.

The above link is to a story in the Associated Press about how the Texas Department of Criminal Justice
prisons in Beaumont and Beeville are implementing cellphone blocking systems. Only authorized cellphones will be
allowed to operate within the prisons' walls.

It's rather eye-opening that gang members in one of the above prison sites were selling vehicles stolen in Texas to
Mexican drug cartels.

2011 - Texas DCJ seized 630 cellphones.
2012 - Texas DCJ seized 738 cellphones.
All these phones were smuggled into "secure" prisons.

As a parallel thought to the above problem: It's not logical for "anti's" to assume that even if they could confiscate
all American guns, that gangbangers would go without THEIR guns.

If they can get cellphones in prison, nothing would prevent them from getting guns when they are out of prison.

So true.

Frankly, prisons should be a leftists idea of paradise. Complete and total govt control over every aspect of these people's lives...what they eat, when they're allowed to move around, who they can see, what they can do.....every minute of every day is theoretically under supervision by the state.

Yet there is still drugs, rape, killing, smuggling, etc in prisons. Hmm.

The cell phone issue came to light when John Whitmire got a phone call from an inmate at the Pulunski who was on death row Unit threatening him. There's only one way to get a phone to a death row inmate. It involves $$ and someone willing to get it in. 'nuff said. Rick Perry's solution was to install jamming equipment at all the prisons. They are still being smuggled in and used which tells you a lot about how efficient our government is. You said it all when you listed all that goes on right under the supervision of government employees and contractors. :banghead: We all know the criminals will follow the rules and gun laws "rlol" "rlol" "rlol" "rlol" just like they do in the Big House.

And what's even worse than that is thinking about "where" the smugglers carry these phones while getting them in the prison. My bet is that the 9" wide Samsung phone isn't on the list.
