Colorado sheriff says new state gun laws won't be enforced

Cooke said the proposed firearms transfer requirement would not keep guns out of the hands of criminals, according to the GreeleyTribune.com report.

The sheriff told the news outlet that he and other county sheriffs "won’t bother enforcing" the laws because it won't be possible to keep track of how gun owners are complying with the new requirements.

I'm not sure why Fox is trying to sensationalize this (money, I know, I was speaking rhetorically) by claiming that Sheriffs will "refuse to enforce" the laws. Fox could have just as easily pointed out the more realistic, less sensational reality that the laws are not enforceable (without universal registration) and the "legislators" that voted for them are motivated by a misguided social agenda rather than upholding their oath of office.

Or worse, it will lull them into thinking it is 't enforced ... Until they drive to a different county or a different state where it IS enforced.

The main problem will be selective enforcement. While many agencies may choose not to arrest someone for the possesion of a high cap mag, others will. This will basically mean unless you know where you can do it without repercussion, you just can't risk it.

You would be protected under FOPA.
Just don't overnight in CO or stop to see any attractions.

You can safely drive your gun from PA to NH via NJ and NY for the same reason.

And thus the State of Colorado just lost more money. The money you would have spent on food and fuel, for instance. But their politicians don't care, as long as their ideological schemes are met. I hope the citizens of that state think very hard about this when they go the polls next time.
