inBloom education database

Post by Dadtodabone »

While I've not heard of any proposed use here in Texas, I wonder what y'alls feelings are on this program:

It tripped my SXSW alert.

Here is all I had to see:
aligned with Common Core standards
We in Texas already have CSCOPE, an abomination of a set of 1,500 propaganda type lesson plans in support of Common Core. Consolidating the data about students can be a doubled edged sword. It might help target student weakness patterns so that they could get specialized help but I fear that it would provide justification to label students as sub-standard and in such a way that they could never shrug off that label.

Kids develop at different rates and it is almost impossible to predict when one might "catch fire" and go from below average to being a top learner. I cringe at the thought of one of those types having to carry along a set of baggage that they amassed earlier.

I spent 38 years in IT. Consolidating information can be a good thing and I helped a lot of customers do just that. It will take a lot of convincing for me to believe that this is a good thing.

Edit: This link just popped on one of the sites

This is the kind of stuff that is being taught as part of Common Core, implemented by CSCOPE> CSCOPE is the lesson plans and teaching aid materials. :banghead:

Oh my, that's just horrible. My concern with inBloom was the possibility of student information being disseminated without parental consent. Revisionist history and propaganda weren't mentioned in the article. Thanx for the info
