Unbelievable. Not really if you think about it.

I saw that earlier. The system is broken just about everywhere, but its a special kind of broken out in California.

Re: You Wonder Why We (Collective) Are Going Broke?
And when CA or their cities go broke, they are going to want a Federal bailout so that the rest of get to pay for their stupidity. This is right up there with the most stupid things that I have heard of out of local government. If there are enough of them, we'll get to be just like Cypress.

Maybe the French Revolution had a few good ideas after all.

I don't think many on this board wonder why at all. We pretty much have it figured out. There just isn't an easy (and legal) way to fix it other than voting out all of the vote buyers, which never seems to happen. It is always the other guys that need to be kicked out, not our guys....
I'm not surprised that the lifetime pay is there. That is no different than members of Congress getting their pensions for a pittance of service. Only in this case, the pay appears to be much higher. Those in control voting themselves raises, pensions, etc. is, unfortunately, very common.

In a sane society excesses like this would work themselves out. The counties that did stupid stuff like this would find themselves out of money and the people bleeding the system would be out of luck in time. But today those bleeders get to have a bailout from the productive........sigh......this is not going to be pretty.

One more nail in the coffin. We're going to end up like Greece, with their "blind" taxi drivers collecting benefits.

I guess it's easy to blow money that isn't yours.
