Homeland Security Demands “Obedience” in Message to Agents

Post by JJVP »

The Obama administration and its controversial Department of Homeland Security are under fire for sending what is being described as a “chilling” message to U.S. Border Patrol agents demanding “obedience,

Even without engaging in any speculation about what it means, this message is an insult to the professionalism of the boots on the ground Border Patrol agents. They are professionals. They don't need to be told to be loyal. This is just cheesy.

The word “obedience” was defined on the official TV screens as: “quickly and cheerfully carrying out the direction of those who are responsible for me.”

" . . . those who are responsible for me.”

So, in the end, this Orwellian looking piece of trash also implies that the individuals, by being obedient, are not responsible? Didn't work very well at Nuremberg.

Maybe they actually meant "Passive obedience"
World English Dictionary
passive obedience

— n
1. unquestioning obedience to authority
2. the surrender of a person's will to another person

The one thing I do speculate about is whether this initiative is proactive in nature, or in response to a perceived growing discontent among the troops. In other words, why did someone feel the need to produce this crap? Is it simply because Janet Napolitano is a toad with the soul of Hermann Göring and simply knows no boundaries to her ego, or is it because the line officers have become wary of their leadership's constitutional abuses and are starting to grumble about it and become uncooperative?

Or maybe it's both..... Either way, it does not bode well for us, as it is symptomatic of our government's moral center........or lack thereof.

This one gets my vote. Because of Sheriff's and some state lawmakers they have sensed the public's discontent and are resorting to not so subtle threats/reminders.

This comes from the Character First series of "Leadership Development training". DHS should have opted for the pre-printed card:

I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.

For any LEO, obedience should be to the enforcement of the law, provided it is moral and just.
