Fast Food Workers Unionizing

In NYC, fast food workers want $15.00 or so an hour and are (apparently) organizing to make it happen.

Undereducated, under motivated folks can demand pay increases all day long, but I can't see it happening.

I cannot imagine they're actually getting such a pay raise or even succeeding in creating a union, but stranger things have happened.

If it does, what'll happen to the fast food industry?

Part of the reason fast food is attractive is low cost.

I know the fast food I occasionally buy (once a month or less) would be a thing of the past...

I heard one of the radio hosts talking about how the Democrat Party wants to raise the minimum wage again, and he illustrated how that would raise costs by using fast food as an example. If you, as a fast food employer, are FORCED to pay someone $15 an hour to make fast food, how much is that burger and fries going to end up costing? OR, you'll have to cut back on the total number of workers and the others will have to work more hours...but then again, can't do that or you'll get jammed up by Obamacare...this is EXACTLY one of those things where the bleeding heart liberals just don't get it, and the pure leftwingers KNOW it will wreck the system and so they push for it.

personally i havent stepped into a mickey dees in about 12 years

but 15 to flip a burger is steep.
might be one employee out front and one cook.....wait times through the roof, dirty toilets, screwed up orders, and then you go out of business from no customers

the big union boss was there stirring crap...but no one asked him about his fat pay check

Government and unions have screwed up entire industries before, railroads, steel, autos, others.

Fast food is a low margin, very competitive business. Between this, all the other regulations, competitive forces, Obamacare, local rules, etc. I'm glad I don't own a fast food restaurant. Actually, I'm beginning to wish for the day I no longer own any businesses, although I still own a couple.

Business owners are going the way of the newspaper delivery boys, and Boy Scouts.

Maybe start collecting all the Dollar Menu's you can find. It seems they will be real collector items soon.

We eat out in Houston, because it is inexpensive, even fancy places are inexpensive. (compared to New York for example)

The food here in Texas is the best in the world. Even our so so restaurants would be gourmet restaurants in San Fransisco, Rome and Paris. People stand ten deep in lines at McDonald's in France and Germany.

However, raise the prices sky high and everyone will stay home at night and brown bag lunch.

The whole industry will just go away.

When it is inexpensive, good and convenient, people will avoid the hassle of cooking.
