They are just as overwhelmed with apps as Texas. But - the difference is, they communicate with their instructors!
Last I got from them is, 2 to 3 weeks before they open your packet, and then 60 days to process. That is for new applicants. Renewals might be quicker. But, count on around 60 days from the day they extract payment.

That's been my biggest complaint with DPS for the last three to four years. As a long time instructor I can remember when DPS was as good as Utah communicating with their instructors. Maybe someday they'll offer a little help and post information, changes, etc.
