Just found out this afternoon that I got a new job with my company in Springfield, MO; as such my family and I will be moving up there early this summer. While we'll be sad to be leaving Texas, it will always be home, and we will undoubtedly find out way back here at some point. This isn't our first move out of state; my wife and I moved to Wyoming for a few years when I was just starting my career, only to be brought back to DFW for a new job. I guess thats the beauty of having the company headquarters in Fort Worth. Anyhow, it'll be a bit more of a challenge to renew my TX CHL when the time comes, but just like before (when we were in Wyoming) we'll make it work. The up side is that MO carry laws seem to be on-par with those here in Texas. Most of the statutes that outline prohibited places expressly state that having and keeping the concealed handgun in your car is not against the law so long as it is not removed from the car.
So, any body around here have any suggestions and/or recommendations about MO in general, or the Springfield area specifically?

Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Yes. I grew up in Missouri. Springfield is a growing little town. My nephew lived over there for 6 years and we go there frequently. Bass Pro headquarters and the BIG store is there. Lots of places very close for hunting and fishing and outdoor sports. Branson is south of there if you like music.
Depending on where your office is I would suggest living south of town and down toward Ozark/Branson. It country is beautifulul and you will love it!
As for guns, Missouri is way more gun friendly overall. Missouri is an open carry state as well. And their prohibited places for concealed carry only carry a penalty if you fail to leave and police are called. Then it is only a fine.
Also, there is a Missouri Department of Conservation shooting range in Ash Grove northwest of Springfield that is really nice and cheap to shoot at http://mdc.mo.gov/regions/southwest/and ... ting-range" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you have other questions, drop me a PM and I can give you my number to call and we can talk.

Oh no! I wish y'all the best on your move and promotion. We'll have to hit the range a time or two before you head out-of-country!
And Keith is right, it is beautiful.
