Extreme Kidnapping

Post by JJVP »

This has to be the most stupid thing I've ever seen. Wonder how long before someone gets shot.

Looks stupid. I remember several years ago that Brad Pitt was a willing participant in a prank of his own kidnapping while out in public. That, too, was stupid, but it was in CA I think and highly unlikely that anyone nearby would have been armed and able to do anything unfortunate.

I would hope that this stunt has to be arranged by the person being kidnapped and not a third party, such as a friend or significant other. If I didn't know anything about this activity and someone arranged a surprise for me, the kidnappers are very likely going to be looking at the wrong end of a gun, possibly shot. This is not a good "game" for people to play. It also seems that it would potentially waste resources if a bystander thought the kidnapping was real and reported it to police. :banghead:

The number of ways that this activity could go wrong are limitless.

Sounds like they've been watching too many movies...
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

The movie The Game on which these schenanigens (sp?) are based is a great movie. But that's it just a MOVIE!!!

In so many ways these guys are just begging to be shot by the police or by someone carrying a weapon... Crazy Stupid...

While the chances may be low, even in Commiefornia there are off-duty and plainclothes cops who are armed and might end up shooting a kidnapper.

I guess I have always thought that obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit in California was almost impossible. However, I watch Zombietactics channel on youtube which is not at all about killing zombies. In one of his videos on California's gun laws he refers to the double standards of rural California vs Urban. The permits are given out by County. He has a permit and was discussing how its relatively easy to obtain one where he live but almost impossible if you live in a County with a major city like L.A. even though if you have one you are perfectly legal to carry into those cities. So there is definitely a chance that someone could have a CCW permit in any city in Cali and try and stop this stupid game thinking its real.

Here is the vid. He talks about it at 15:30.

Not such a good idea here in TX (ref. TX PC 9.32 and 9.33).

Its true. I know a couple people in my home town (which is in El Dorado County, which is the rural foothills on your way to Lake Tahoe) who have CHLs. But 45min west in Sacramento County you can forget it. Go down to LA where I used to live and you can forget it too. Go out to the desert where some of my colleges buddies used to live its not difficult. This is the problem with the whole "may issue".

Here in Corpus Christi two young junior high girls reported that they had been abducted earlier in the day.

LOTS of police driving fast all around the square mile or two where the girls reportedly said they were dropped off.

It took some time, but the girls gave it up.. It did not happen. They had ditched school and were trying to cover their butts. I sure hope the city sues the parents for some of the time and trouble LOTS of police went through for a few hours.
