Agreed, however they have some major hoops to jump through; that'll take some time.

Imagine living in the Boston area and trying to buy a gun.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to live in Boston, or taxachusets even.

I was thinking the same thing. This just goes to show you that no neighborhood is truly a "safe" neighborhood. Evil/Terror or whatever can happen anywhere and anytime. Be prepared.

I know if something like this were going on overnight in my neighborhood I would in the living room with the shotgun and pistol all night.

I noted this in the Mass gun law link:

Open carry permitted? Handguns Yes

Open carry is permitted in some areas, but only with a concealed carry license. Open carry in a vehicle is not permitted.

Maybe just me, but I find it odd that it would be Mass Yes, Texas No :headscratch

Massachusetts much like California is geographically beautiful and some of the people are great, but overall most of the population is nuttily liberal.

Plus, the conservatives are so browbeaten, (and yes, there are some there) they make placating verbal allowances for liberal ideas, like "I'll work and provide tax money so you don't have to because I understand how hard it is for some", blah blah, blah.

Over a few beers, I heard this from my conservative, responsible, hardworking, home owning, Cape Codder BIL.

I could only gape at this appeasement pronouncement.

His attitude is not unique in this part of the world.

Open carry is meaningless when you have to move heaven and earth to simply own a gun and kiss the ring of your masters to get a permit. I'll take Texas CHL over Mass open carry any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Didn't say Mass was better, just that they have open carry with a CHL (may issue) and Texas does not. Just found it odd.

Massachusetts should have passed a law so this would never have happened. These laws will always prevent crime.
