The Resistol/Stetson factory is in Garland, and they have a factory outlet store. I have to admit I can spend hours in that place. I've gotten a nice steton fedora, white straw Resistol, and a nice black felt Resistol, although summer I usually wear an Atwood low crown Marfa because of durability. I've got a decent Ecuadorian panama for more casual nonwestern dress. I never leave the builbing without a proper hat, I just can't stand those gimme ball caps. Im definitely all hat no cattle in that respect. Although that should change once I get moved out to the 35 acres on a dead end dirt road in the middle of nowhere that I just closed on this week
. Boots are usually Ariats or Twisted X, if I can find them. Oh and I just love my pearl snaps

That is one beautiful rig you got there. The Annoyed Man wrote:Lucchese "Cowboy Collection" full quill ostrich square toed boots from Cavenders for about $650 or so.....the most comfortable pair of western boots I've ever owned:Pawpaw wrote:You will not beat the comfort and quality of Lucchese boots without going with custom made specifically for you.
They are spendy, but worth it.
Oh, and they're made in El Paso.

I also love the idea of going to TDCJ to get a belt buckle made, wouldn't have thought of that in a million years. That sounds so cool!
I personally, have a pair of Ariats which I find very comfortable. The guy at Cavenders recommended them as a first pair of boots about two years ago. I must admit I don't treat them particularly well. I got them shined the other day and when I sat down the shoe shiner took one look and said " Oh...". Ten minutes later they looked better than when I bought them. I enjoy my Ariats even though they aren't high-dollar this or that. The only thing that honestly bugs me about them are that they're made in China. I also have a nice belt I purchased from http://www.thebeltman.net/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The beltman. Again, paired with a lone star belt buckle made in China. To me, as I'm sure most on the forum will understand, it's the principle of the matter. I don't have any money to spend on these items... yet. I just bought a reloading press and a new Rem. 700 in 25-06. So I'll do my best to avoid spending money on these articles. I'll make a trip out to the stockyard with the misses and check out Leddy's and try a few on and get a feel for what I want. Also, I have more of a circular shaped head so I'm afraid any hat will make me look just ridiculous. I have a feeling picking out a nice one of those will be the trickiest for me.

They make those instead of license plates now?TheCytochromeC wrote: I also love the idea of going to TDCJ to get a belt buckle made, wouldn't have thought of that in a million years. That sounds so cool!
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I'm not sure who makes them but they're available to my specification apparently. That's why I'm interested in checking it out.JALLEN wrote:They make those instead of license plates now?TheCytochromeC wrote: I also love the idea of going to TDCJ to get a belt buckle made, wouldn't have thought of that in a million years. After doing a bit more clicking I think I came across the fact that it's an offense...
