Man Shot in Lobby of Utah Police Dept After Pulling Gun

Post by gthaustex »

Another candidate for Darwin Award:

He was hoping for death by cop....
A man shot and wounded Monday morning after pulling a gun in a police station lobby in suburban Salt Lake City told officers months ago that he wanted to be killed by police because he was a registered sex offender and his wife was taking his kids, authorities said.
Kammeyer's 1999 felony conviction would have prohibited him from possessing any guns, said Dwayne Baird, spokesman for the Utah Department of Public Safety. If he had a concealed-weapons permit, that would have been taken from him as well.
Yet.....he still had a gun.... :nono:

And a quote from one of the clueless locals...
"This is supposed to be a safe, civilian place," Barkhimer said. "Not a place of gunfire."

Reading this story was painful. What exactly qualifies as a ton of bullets. And how exactly after a shooting do you look for shots (unless you are wanting to get drunk).
Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

Multiple rounds, but only two hits in the arm?! The lobby filled with broken glass, and at least two holes in the window?! Somebody needs to get to the range.

Figuring the cops were shooting 165gr .40, not including brass and powder, almost 85,000 rounds.

A ton would be 2,000 lbs, so there must have been A LOT of shooting. Maybe there was some confusion and looking for shots came before the shooting.

Hauer said officers came out to make sure everyone was safe on the train and at the bus stop but didn't fire any shots.
Those people at the train and bus stop must be very happy that the cops didn't fire any shots at them to make sure they were safe.

What a whimp! Too scared to do it himself and now force the cops to go through a shooting and be second guessed? :clapping:
