Are they coming to you, or you to them?

My understanding from the recent CHLI class I was in was that they explicitly avoid going to someone's house. The subject of audits came up during discussion. They either arrange to meet at a DPS location, or in some other relatively neutral location.

Good visit. They liked my filing system. All records were there.
I am impressed w/ their willingness to help.

If you have your business together is does not hurt.

Just finished. Kristi and Bryan from the Mount Pleasant Office came to my home this time, where as last year I met with Kristi in an office down town. I had everything laid out when they arrived, so it only took about 15 minutes.

My first Audit is tomorrow morning. A little confused by the list of things they want to see. I think I keep good enough records that I am not that stressed out about it. I hope I keep good enough records anyway. He asked when I was available and I said ASAP lets get this over with.

1. Instructor certificate Easy
2. Example of Scoring Target got this
3. Evidence of use of guest instructorNever have had one
4. Documentation of Video Use during Course Not sure what they want here. I use the power point that I bought by the CHL people and only use DPS approved videos. I have very limited videos but are they going to want to watch what I use?
5. Documentation of any accidental/negligent discharges or reports submitted.Have not had any (thank the lord)
6. Documentation of critiques or notes made by the instructor?????????
7. Examples of advertisement.I am mostly word of mouth so this is easy

Records for the past 3 years
1. Completed CHL-7 forms.got this
2. Completed CHL-8 records.got this
3. Examples of course materials and required curriculum???
4. ALL applicants’ CHL-100 forms.got this all in a binder
5. Documentation of written post test scores.I don't keep test scores we were told we don't have too. I keep pass/fail
6. Documentation indicating Submission of (CHL-7,8, & 100) to Department of Public SafetyGot this
I conceal carry because I choose not to be a victim.

That statement was good w/ my auditor.
4. Documentation of Video Use during Course Not sure what they want here. I use the power point that I bought by the CHL people and only use DPS approved videos. I have very limited videos but are they going to want to watch what I use?
Not going to watch. I dont use them. That was good w/ them. If you do just have the name & video. Big deal seemed to be that they were approved & that not over 20% of the class was video.
5. Documentation of any accidental/negligent discharges or reports submitted.Have not had any (thank the lord)
6. Documentation of critiques or notes made by the instructor?????????
I asked about this too. Mine said this would be if someone passed & you sent a letter or email to DPS stating some evidence that they did not need one.
7. Examples of advertisement.I am mostly word of mouth so this is easy
I took a copy of my "Peddler" ad & the one I have in the Phone book. I think the thing they are looking for there is stated "10hr" class. My perception but not stated.

Records for the past 3 years
1. Completed CHL-7 forms.got this
2. Completed CHL-8 records.got this
3. Examples of course materials and required curriculum???
Take a copy of your Outline or what ever you teach out of.
4. ALL applicants’ CHL-100 forms.got this all in a binder
5. Documentation of written post test scores.I don't keep test scores we were told we don't have too. I keep pass/fail
Your CHL100s are good here.
6. Documentation indicating Submission of (CHL-7,8, & 100) to Department of Public SafetyGot this
You should be good.

Jarod with DPS was here and gone in 10 minutes. Very nice guy and asked to look at a lot less then I had prepared for him to look at. Glad that is over with.
