Interesting article about the recent Austin shooting of a CHL holder and instructor that ended up pointing his gun at an officer after refusing to disarm. The part I find most interesting are the chiefs comments. He was recently in Washington lobbying for gun control....

Re: Article re recent shooting in austin
Kind of curious why you find it interesting, it sounds like the usual liberal anti-gun rhetoric to me, though admittedly more subtle than some? The libs have repeatedly expressed their desire to confiscate guns. All Acevedo is trying to do is downplay these statements and pretend that confiscation is not the ultimate liberal goal. He's a shill. He suggests the guy was irrational for believing the rhetoric that the left wants to confiscate guns, without citing any evidence, and when we know that confiscation is in fact the goal. His comments really stink too in light of the fact that he is speculating about the man's motivations while withholding evidence of what actually happened. The article ends quoting the SPLC and that alone takes if from the realm of credibility.

They writer is speculating at this point. Austin PD hasn't released anything related to the investigation yet. IMHO articles like this are just filler for the paper to print. No hard evidence, just some maybe stuff....

If you point your gun at an LEO (or anyone else) you will probably get shot.

Re: Article re recent shooting in austin
I know an officer that is a close friend (and classmate) of the officer involved in the shooting. Unsurprisingly, the officer involved in the shooting cannot say anything, but the officer I spoke to spoke very highly of his professionalism, and himself was surprised at the incident. He's steadfast in his belief that if the officer had to shoot, there was a darn good reason for him to believe his life was in danger.
