Password Question

Does anyone use any program they would recommend for managing their computer passwords? This can really be a pain trying to keep with this using hand written notes.

I use Norton Internet Security, which has many security features, including a log-in manager addon for Internet Explorer.

i have a free ware program called "password safe". You can install on a USB drive and keep the database on it for easy recall and is pasword protected. one downside is you have to create each entry, it does not save the url, user id or passwords automatically. The upside is you can take it anywhere and use it on any computer with a usb port and when you click on the entry, it will open the URL and send the user id and password to login.

I also use the built in password keeper in Firefox, but trying to move away from that.

my new HP laptop has "Simple Pass", it will store logins and with the biometric scanner, I just swipe my finger to login to the sites.

It's free to anybody, but I have the Premium service, which costs $12/year. Because I handle a LOT of passwords, and not just my own, I had to had to have a service that could do so securely for me. In addition to my own password needs (site access, banking, server access, etc.), I also have to have a way to store my client passwords securely for such things as their hosting account control panels (when I'm not hosting them), their domain registry accounts, etc.

With the Premium service, there are a few additional features like mobile device support and tech support by phone (which I've never had to use), but the free version is VERY full-featured: https://lastpass.com/features_compare.php.

Compact, portable (I keep mine on a jump drive) and generates its own master password.

Ditto on the Password Safe - good free product and does a better job protecting passwords than most that automatically log your passwords

You're welcome. Be advised that they have a separate plugin for each browser, so if you use more than one browser, you'll probably want to install the plugin for each one.
