Matt Alexander, and developer, ECOM Properties are requesting to rezone two tracts of land to develop into multiple uses. The northern tract contains 967 acres and the southern tract contains 201 acres. These uses will include ± 790 acres of single-family residential (up to 3,100 lots), 24 acres of townhomes (250 units), 88 acres of multi-family (approximately 1,600 units based on 18 units per acre), 42 acres of commercial/community retail uses, and 14 acres of light industrial uses close to the airport and ± 220 acres of open space.

Ellis County is not the small rural county it was when I was growing up. It is not nearly as friendly a place to live as it once was. Oh, for the good old days.

There's a new highway going through there, too. They're holding public meetings this week ( I think ) down there somewhere.
