HB 220

Does anyone know what is happening with HB 220? Or any of the other Parking Lot bills? As someone who cannot keep my weapon in my vehicle while at work, I would like to see one of these pass to let me be able to.

All parking lot bills are dead. Any House Bill that hasn't passed the House by Friday is dead. The only parking lot bill with even a slight chance of passing will die in the Calendars Committee.

I am not sad to see this happen. Ok, maybe a little.

I see this as goal setting and I love goal setting.

Goals ought to be dificult to achive.

Every session, the TSRA and the NRA set high goals for our congresscritters.

You can tell they are high goals because they achive some but not all.

I would much rather have our side striving to achive high goals that setting our sights lower and coasting though achivement.

I'm not disappointed to see this fail because I've never had anything happen to me on the way to and from work.... yet!. But if something ever does happen to me or someone I know, it sure will mean a lot that it didn't pass.
What I'm saying is that there is more to it than wins and losses, it's our rights of protection. I would rather have seen this pass than not.

I was not for any requirement that the employer be notified.

Maybe next session we can get something passed without this ridiculous impediment.

+1. I would have no problem with and would definitely support a bill that did not require disclosure. I see it like my license, keep them (your guns locked in your vehicle out of sight) concealed and keep quiet about it and nobody should ever know.

Well, maybe I preached the funeral of the parking lot bills too early. SB534 by Sen. Hegar passed the Senate on 3/26/07 and is currently in the House Calendars Committee.

In all candor, I forgot that SB534 had already passed the Senate. So, if it comes out of the Calendars Committee, it might just pass the House. SB534 is also a Southwest Airlines-type of procedure, as is HB992.
