As many of you know the Will Rogers Center, where 99% of the gun shows in Fort Worth happen, is surrounded by and shares parking with a variety of museums and other attractions. These all draw many out of town guest.
Last gun show I met a friend at the show and we looked around a bit. He found a rail he wanted for his AR, and the vendor offered to install it for free. We left the show, went the the parking garage across the street, and grabbed his uncased AR our of the car. He took out the magazine, cleared the weapon, and then slung it over his shoulder. We then walked back through the parking garage and by many families which I am sure were attending other area activities then the FW gun show.
The got me thinking and looking around. There is a TON of folks walking to and from the gun show with long guns over their shoulder. I would think FWPD gets a few MWAG calls during each show?
I wonder how they are handled? Any one here work at the 911 dispatch center in Fort Worth or other cities which have big gun shows like this?

You'd think that the obvious fact that there is a gun show nearby would greatly reduce the likelihood of that happening.
But then you never know with some people....

That, plus if my memory serves me right, it is legal to walk around with a long gun in plain view as long as it isn't done in a manner to cause alarm.bdickens wrote:You'd think that the obvious fact that there is a gun show nearby would greatly reduce the likelihood of that happening.

At every gun show I've been to in the DFW area, there are tons of folks walking around with rifles in and out of the venue. There are also patrol cars on site. I would think that any 911 MWAG call about someone with a gun in the vicinity of these venues would be handled by first asking the caller if the person is "threatening' anyone, or just carrying a rifle. But, not being a LEO, I don't know for sure.

Years ago I thought nothing about it. Today I would be concerned about overreation from open carry...
You would expect some common sense around a gun show, but, common sense isn't very common any more...
Oddly enough, while never stopped with a visible rifle, one day, 30 years ago, I had walked into the street with a Negrito Bolo (2 foot or so knife, a tool to me I had bought from a villager in the Philippines) to cut a bit of brush, and silently, I amassed four police cars behind me...
