My first trip to Marfa was about1978. Took a crew of people through this part of Texas inventorying Safeway stores. The previous day we had stayed in Alpine after driving in from somewhere further East. Got up early, knocked the Alpine store out by lunch.
Following our normal procedures, drove to Marfa to spend the night, planning to start the inventory early the next AM.
No motel in Marfa. Well, maybe one, but very small, gravel parking lot, maybe five rooms, goats grazing in the parking lot. Drove back in Alpine for the night, returned early the next morning.
Wasn't much of a tourist destination back then.
If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.
Funny. I just saw this place on tv today. I missed the first of the segment where they said where it was located. I cracked up when I heard. I know I'm gonna spend $170 to stay in a restored travel trailer in Marfa, TX. Get outa town!!! http://www.elcosmico.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When I need to buy some fake Prada shoes from the fake Prada shoe store, I'll head that way.
