With all the "no guns on the Fourth" stories going around I am proud to say that guns are invited, expected, and welcome at our Fourth of July celebration.

Daughter and I are going shooting. Gonna do a little practice with the handguns for our next IDPA match and then take our rifles over to wight in at 50 yards before hitting the 100 yard area. If we do okay there we'll move over to the 200 yard line. Although she may not be able to shoot her .22LR there, I'll give it a go with my M4, M1, and 1903.

If we do okay there we'll move over to the 200 yard line. Although she may not be able to shoot her .22LR there, I'll give it a go with my M4, M1, and 1903.

Good handgun practice this morning. Hope to lower my score on the next match.

50 yard range went okay. Better with the M1 than the M4. M1, of course, just has iron sights and was already sighted in last time and had not changed. The M4 has a cheap RDS that does not hold its zero very well apparently. Took about 6 rounds to get it back in. It has a 2mil dot, so covers the entire bulls-eye at 50 yards.

When we moved to the 100y area the M1 showed up the kid again. We were running a little longer than planned and my daughter was getting hungry and tired. I only shot 8 rounds with the M1 and 16 with the M4. The 8 with the M1 beat the best 8 with the M4. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that a rifle with a 24" barrel would out shoot one with a 14.5" one even if it is older.
