+1 For Gov. Perry

The public's access to concealed handgun licenses -- is now cut off. Governor Rick Perry Thursday announced he's signed into law a bill that seals state records showing who is allowed to pack a gun in public.

Only law enforcement agencies would have access to the license information. The law took effect immediately upon its signing yesterday. Representative Patrick Rose of Dripping Springs says the steps that law-abiding Texans take to protect themselves and their families should be issues of private concern.

The media urged Perry to veto the bill, saying it was an open government issue -- not a gun issue. Anyone can check on information from other types of licenses the state issues, such as those for doctors, nurses, lawyers, real estate agents and barbers.

The Texas Department of Public Safety maintains concealed handgun records.

Excellent!
My husband and his colleague were actually going to wait until September to mail off their applications. I'll tell them they're safe now.

Interesting analogy.

If it were a hitman's license - meaning a license required to make a profit, I would agree it must remain pubic.

Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.
