Looks like fun. I may be able to make that next match. I've been looking to have some IDPA fun with my new Hi-Power. :) Just need to get around to buying a mag carrier. ;-)

I'm going to San Antonio (from Fort Worth) this weekend and will be heading home Sunday. Will they let newbies shoot? I've been to two IDPA matches. My friend hasn't and really wants to.

With a showtime of 0900, how late does it go till?

$20 match fee plus range fees? Or is that $20 all inclusive?

We're usually done about 12:30-1:00, but if you stay for the shotgun sidematch, that can last until 2:30 or so.

As for the fees, the $20 is all inclusive, not additional charges apply.

Sounds good. The only concern now is if we can pack up, check out and leave San Antonio in time to make it for an 0900 showtime. If not, we may just visit and watch.

Actually, you have until 9:45, as registration is from 0900-0945. So plenty of time. :)

You're welcome to drop by and watch, but I will warn you, you'll be mad at yourself for not making it on time. Competing is much more fun than watching.....

Ryan is right.

You will find the Texas Tactical to be VERY accomodating and accepting of new shooters. A few years back my youngest daughter (then 17 and no real experience with a handgun) accompanied me to a few mathches.

She found everyone so nice that she soon wanted to shoot. I set her up with a Ruger 22/45. Mike let her shoot with the .22 to let her get a chance to experience a few mathces. It wasn't long before she wanted "Something Bigger", so she got a 9mm for Christmas. The shooters welcomed her and offered excellent advice and patience. Often the best shooters were the most generous. It was a VERY positive experience for her. She still shoots as often as A&M and work and, of course, social calender permits.

Their primary rules are...Stay Safe and Have Fun.

As for watching, Ryan is right there too. You will regret that decision with watching the first one or two shooters go through the stages. Take you stuff and participate.

Regards
Carl

Well, I won't be able to make the one this Sunday - I committed to take a friend shooting for the first time that day. I've got a wedding to attend in Houston on 06/16, so I guess It'll be 06/24 before I can make a match. I shouldn't be in a hurry to embarrass myself anyway. ;-) Plus, I don't even have one of those fancy mag holders yet.
